Presentation
Only event reserved for the "Super Yachts" (yachts over 30m) on the French Riviera, this event offers the famous “De Beers Treasure Hunt” and 3 days of pursuit rally in the Bay of Cannes between Estérel, the Lerins's islands and Cap d'Antibes.
These sailboats, subject of all superlatives are true works of art, as by their design, details of construction, luxury accommodations, etc. They also pave the way for a new generation of yachts interested in ecology and sustainable development, propelled by the wind, their fuel consumption is 30 to 40 times less than of "Motor-yachts" of equal size…
The choice of Cannes, with its downtown harbour and its wonderful bay, which provides a showcase highlighting the beauty and majesty of these boats, has not escaped the famous Skipper Lionel Péan creator and chairman of the organization.
But the sailing would be nothing without the tremendous quality home port of Cannes and the Cannes Croisette organization team to ensure the crews four days of events and parties that make up the legend of Cannes.
Eight boats have participated in the first edition in 2006.
The victory of SY HYPERION laid the foundation stone of this event not to be missed on the Riviera.
Guy Leymarie, Chairman of De Beers presented to the crew of this superb 47m sloop the fabulous De Beers treasure, a magnificent jewel of their collection, and the Perpetual Trophy, crude piece of crystal on behalf of which the holder is diamond recorded for eternity.
For 2008, because of the level of care and quality that the organization wanted to offer to all participants, only about twenty boats will be invited to join the Albert Edouard pier in front of the Palais des Festivals.
